Hi,
we are from Germany and want to visit Tri State Gas Engine and Tractor Show in Portland, Indiana in year 2012.
What s the date from this show in the year 2012 ?
We have repeatedly tried to ask the date of the event via the website, unfortunately we have received no answer until now.

We ve been twice (2007 and 2009) in Mt. Pleasant Iowa, Old Treshers Reunion, this show is great!!
We will visit this show again next year.
We are very interested in old tractors and stationary engines, there are in Indiana or Iowa o interesting events, museums or airshows in the period from 21/08/2012 to 04/09/2012?

Maybe we can get an answer to our questions, which would be very pleased!

All the best

Karin and Hermann from Germany

Great show! I've been there numerous times. Their big show is August 24-28. I'm surprised you can't find that on their website.

It looked to me that the 2012 show is Aug 22nd -25th.Any certain brands your interested in? I had relatives in Germany some of them were Webers

Thank you for your answer!

On the homepage the date is 2011, and the date for 2012 I have not found it ...

We want to book a flight to Chicago, for the reason I need the correct date.

This show is comparable to Mt Pleasant, Iowa?
There is a parade before the start of the show?

We are interested in all brands, especially for Stationairmotoren. In Germany we have different brands.
We have a URSUS Tractpr C45 identical to Lanz TYPE 9506, hotbulb engine.
You can see our movies: y t : nowemo130748
Unfortunately, we do not speak English so well!

If you want to see a really good show. Visit the Western Minnesota Steam Threashers Reunion (www.rollag.com)in Rollag Mn. on the 1st weekend in Sept. I took a Dutch friend this year. He said he has never seen anything like it before.

Tri-State show for 2012 is Aug. 22 to 28. Feature tractor for 2012 is Case and feature engines are Kentucky built. Aslo is the summer convention for JICCA, J.I. Case Collectors Association.

I didn't look at the year when I checked the site and what I saw was for this past season. They need to update!

I can't say from experience about the Mt Pleasant show to give you a good comparison between the two. From information from others, the Mt. Pleasant show has a lot more area and more demonstrations and field activities. The Portland show has more display tractors and many more engines. Portland has 54 acres of parts and items for sale. Has a nice campground with modern restrooms and showers.

Some of the threshing demonstrations will not be operating next summer as the current threshing team has disbanded. Sawmill will be operating daily with steam powered tractors.

There is a parade on the Sunday before the start of the show for early arrivals. Parade terminates with a gathering in town for exhibitors and public.

A parade on the grounds occurs at noon on one day of the show, but I don't know which day for certain.

Local motel accommodations are always booked ahead of time and may have to go to Decator, Indiana or Celina, Ohio to get a room. Each are about 30 miles away.

Hope this has been helpful.

Thank you for your message.
2 years ago we visited friends in Cedar Falls. We are from there went to Yellowstone National Park. Somewhere along the way we have met a very friendly family. We were invited into her house and my husband was allowed to drive a tractor from the Titan 1930, which for him was an unforgettable experience. This guy has recommended to us and the event in Rollag. Unfortunately we have lost our way back to the video camera, digital camera and all our adresses from this tour, so we no longer know his name and address.
We may change our plan and not go to Portland, Indiana, but we visit Rollag?
The date is 30.08.2012-03.09.2012?

This has been very helpful!
We need to get the information about the meetings always from the www. Unfortunately, we can see from the various website not always know if the meeting is interesting for us.
I find it very nice that they answer me and give advice.
The clubs have almost all of a homepage, but I never get answers. That's why I posted my question in Tractor Talk, I am grateful for all the nice letters.

Karin:
A correction on some of the informationm you have recieved.I am a life time member of the Tri State Gas and Engine Show At Portland IN. I have exhibited there 12 of the last 14 years. I have recieved a flyer for next years show, Also a news letter from the Secretery. The flyer gives the show Date for 2012 as Aug.22 Thru 26. However the letter states Aug 22 Thru 25. The 26 is on Sunday and usually by sunday over half of the show is gone. A lot of the exibitors and vender people leave on Sat.The parade is usually Sat afternoon in front of the grand stand. Providing the track is in good condition.
I usually go in on Tues. and you would think the show had already started from all the activity. Thur.& Fri. Are usually the big days. You can not see it all in one day. Golf Carts and suvs have been allowed in the past. but that may change do to so many. Proff of insurance has to be provided and they have to be registered.
Some Info from 2011 show.
Exhibitors from 34 States and Canada. Plus visitors from Scotland, England, and Russia.
317 feature engines, 156 model engines,1315 other engines, 17 steam engines 387 feature garden tractors, 197 feature tractors. 154 model tractors, 698 other tractors, 17 steam engines, 38 antique trucks. 25 antique cars and misc exhibits of 979.
For accomodations Fort Wayne would be a lot closer or you might try Berne, how ever I dont know about transportation from Berne. We Have stayed at the Black Bear Inn At Berne.
