A bright spot in the economy?

Ya gotta give them credit for trying! I was doing some research on the Deutz (sp.?) tractors recently which led me to the AGCO site. They are really trying to keep as much as possible in the U.S.

They killed their NA survival chances when they dropped the orange tractor. AGCO p1ssed off its root customers that the AGCO tree grew from. They have since branched into everthing under the sun. I don"t care how many branches the AGCO tree has, it just can"t survive once you sever the roots.

I also heard that Ford is moving some component jobs back
to the US. I hope the CEO's have finally figured out that no
one can buy their products if they don't have jobs.

We have been blessed with work, went from 6 employees to
12 in the last two years.

Lets see they sell 90% Massey Ferguson tractors and less than 5% AC. I would guess that they are real safe even if the AC guys leave. Which I don't believe they will. The AC guys would be much less likely to buy CIH or JD. It is a business decision. I liked the looks of the Silver ones. It just makes since to make one tractor. They where putting different engines in different Brands. SISU in some and Cummins in others of the same size. That is not a good thing cost wise.

All in all AGCO has kept parts available for brands that would have died years ago if they had not bought them. AC lost its market share in the 1970s and could not recover. Duetz spent a bundle and wanted out. IF AGCO had not been created then the brand would have failed.

I won't argue with you Jd,but in the under 80-90HP your percentages are close.BUT in the over 80-90HP classes they are(were) completely reversed.I can't recall seeing a big new MF in the last 4-5 yrs.Even the dealers that sold both, quit stocking MFs and only kept the Orange Allis. The Yellow Challenger is selling, but not the MFs.As far as loyalty, when Agco did away with the Orange tractors 4,5,6 ago,you never saw so many new red and green ones show up.That is why they came back out with them and now have dropped them again.Time will tell.

All we saw around here was red and green except for the few guys running old AC stuff who were few and far between. Only place I've seen a new orange AGCO that was near new was on dealers lots. I've seen a few MF's in the field. So if they angered 5% of their customers (the guys ready to buy new tractors) to really save on cost.......Most of the guys I know who are into AC were mad but none of them were looking at new stuff anyway. Go to any area and the dealer not the brand will determine whats being used.

The Orange Allis has kept its market share except for the Deutz years until now,so we will see if the paint means anything.Yes local dealers mean a lot,but we have a good number of people that will drive wherever to get what they want. Most of the retirement sales I have went to with Orange Allis's lately have all had 2 to 10 yr.old tractors so they weren't that old.
