I picked up some weather pack connectors today, but they didn't have the crimper for them, off to the tool store to get that, and realized I forgot the seals for the wire. I went south and west of the house to get the connectors and had to go east to get the crimper's, which is normal to me. Stopped at 4 other parts stores on the way home and not a one of them even new what a weather pack connector was.

you would think as common as these are on new equipment some one would have them
Ended up back at the first parts store.

Before any one asks, this is a weather pack connector.

Most people don't use them because most people don't know how to wire stuff to last. They go to a box store and get a crimp on wiring set so parts stores don't stock em and the guys behind the counter don't really know what they are.

Now don't get me wrong crimp on's can work very well but depending on where you live and weather conditions they can be short lived.

Out of curiosity, about what do those set ya back?? I never knew you could buy em like that.. But I can see where that would make my life easier.. All of our trailers and 2 of our trucks use the round "truck lite" lights with the 3 prong plug.. I've always hard soldered them, but it seems like every year one of the plugs poops on something, so i cut and solder..

With those, I could "pigtail" the plug and change em in a matter of a few seconds, as opposed to a half hour, Plus, if I made everything "universal" just carry a spare pigtail in the glove box of each truck and always be prepared for a problem..

Thanks for gettin my mind goin.

But where do you get a reasonably priced factory
type crimper for weather pack. Most imp dealers
carry the components. I use a lot of the other
style connections, IH used these on 86 series on
down. Anyway, can't find a source of multi pack
like 100 count so they are affordable. Can't
remember the name of them right now.

A three way one for your tail lights

housings
75018 - 3-way Weather Pack Female Housing (1 MIN)
Price: 0.58790

75020 - 3-way Weather Pack Male Housing (1 MIN)
Price: 0.40480

terminals that go inside are .19 to .23 apiece

the little rubber seals are like a dime

They do "require" a special crimper but I seem to get by with my klein crimpers just fine.

I usually get this stuff type of stuff from delcity but I was in a hurry

And they make a removal tool, if one pin goes bad you can take it out, replace just that pin.
