Ford 8n tractor

If you are going to leave your 8N sit for awhile, just block the clutch pedal down with a block of wood. Actually I've heard that Ford shipped these tractors new with the clutch pedal blocked down, to prevent sticking.

Very common problem with tractors and if you look in the archives in the N series forums you will find many answer to your question. Blocking the pedal down works well I know my 1950 8N has a cement block on the pedal right now and has for years other then when I am using it. As for freeing it up start it in the highest gear you can in a big open area if you do do so and still be safe and drive it till it frees up

If Old's idea (or driving it into a tree, as some have suggested) doesn't work, you can take off the starter, block down the clutch pedal, and work the end of a knife (bent 90 degrees about 2 inches from the tip) between the clutch disc and the flywheel to free it up.

Get rid of the 8N and buy a horse, otherwise get a oliver or cockshutt or IH something that is more usefull

It hasn't happened to me on my 8N yet, but on the older cars when it happened, we would have someone hold the clutch pedal down and then we would rock the car back and forth. You could actually hear the clutch disc let go....Ping!

Works for me :)
