OT-Couple GM questions

Work car, 2004 chevy classic(105,000 miles), is making a very noticable sound(like chattering grinding sound) when you turn left with brakes applied at slower speeds. Not noticable when going say around a left hand curve at speed(no breaks applied). Sounds and feels like front drivers side. I took wheel off today. Nothing feels loose. I replaced front passenger side wheel bearing assembly and put new rotors and pads on front about 6,000 miles ago. Any ideas? CV joint? Second question-Taking time to check tire pressures and all fluids and notice power steering fluid is at bottom of stick. Check owners manual and calls for GM part No. U.S. 89021186. Any ideas what a good crossrefernce brand of power steering fluid is that I could use? Thanks-SHON

I use Dexron VI. Don't know if it is officially recommended, but I have never had a problem.

I vote break pad problem. My cousin just had the same symptoms with a 2500 van. Outside pad was in great condition, inside pad was trash.

Brake pad makes sense... I went to town and when i went to leave wally world, breaks were warmed up, backing up it was dragging a little hard. I will check it tomorrow morning. Thanks SHON

GM, Ford, Chrysler, all have their own part number which they recommend for p/s fluid, etc. Gotta sell parts, right? Most parts houses such as NAPA can advise you as to what to use. There are plenty of aftermarket brands that are a lot less expensive.
