O.T. - Farmer's Almanac, October weather, etc.

Just looking for a little help...

I still have about 15 acres of really nice thick clover mix to put up. The weather here in CNY is definitely not cooperating and Fall is moving along.

Does anyone have a copy of the 2011 Farmer"s Almanac and if so, are we supposed to have any clear stretches of weather anytime soon?

I was planning to put it all into small squares like I do with the rest of my hay, but now I am thinking about alternatives like baleage. I don"t have a round baler or a wrapper but I can rent them from a local fellow.

Thanks a lot in advance for the help.

Wow, I don't think I'd be basing decisions involving money or labor on a book written over a year ago.

Go here: Farm Progress Greg Soulje, the weather guy, has been pretty much spot on all year. He predicted a long cold wet spring way back at the first of the year.

I don't put any faith in our local guys anymore, every cloud is going to be the worst storm we've ever seen, or the sun will set new temerature records if it shines. I predict my own using NOAA and signs I learned from my dad, with one ear listening to Greg Soulje.

YMMV

Seems to me that the days are getting short enough that even if we get a dry stretch, you'll have a lot of trouble drying it (especially clover mix- tough to dry in the best circumstances). If you have a way of doing baleage, I'd just go ahead with it. Otherwise, likely to lose the whole crop. And clover makes real nice silage.
