Question for all

I read this forum first thing every morning. I have a question for all. I know all of us use the rattle can spray paint, but just wondering what you did with the plastic caps. So how many of you;

throw them in the trash

recycle them

use them for small parts holders

use them for mixing small amounts of paint in

or anything else.

Just wondering....

Have a good day and send us some rain.

on't wander to far,....you may get lost

Rain is coming....'some day'

I have used them to hold small amounts of paint for touch up with a brush but mostly they go in the trash especially if I have to wack them over a saw horse to get them off the cans.

It' HAUPTentscheidung S.-A. für mich und ich legen häufig waches nachts sorgend um was, mit ihnen zu tun.

I throw em away as soon as I use the paint. Especially the ones that require a screwdriver to open. They get smashed. Although, I did use a black paint cap to fix a hole in a battery once. The plastic matched and it worked great with a soldering gun.

Thurlow says:

It's main decision-S.-A. for me and I often lay awake at night worrying about what to do with them

I don't recycle anything. Everything goes into the trash.

I throw the whole can in the recycling container that way the sorters can figure out what they want to keep.

Recycling bin here accepts glass, plastic and metal together. Paper is separated by cardboard and plain paper.

I mostly pitch them, but I have used some to make ant guards for my wife's hummingbird feeders. Before I retired, I always kept a few in my truck toolbox to use when I ran out of drinking cups. Otherwise, they're junk to me.

reuse them for one thing or another mostly for holding paint for touch-up. I recycle everything that I possibly can and I enjoy doing it because I know that I am not doing it for me or the tree huggers but for my grand children.

I use them for cutting oil next to the drill press and on the lathe and milling machine with an acid brush in each.

 UD.......yup about that.......if people would read about the toxins produced by recycling maybe they wouldn't be so impressed with it!

Screw the recycling! I sorted out all my newspaper, plastics and metals one time and lugged them all to town to our recycling center along with 4 cases of nickle deposit bottles. They immediately refused my stuff because one of the newspapers had a color picture on the front page and 2 of the milk jugs had not been properly washed out! Oh they wanted to grab those deposit bottles though! I told them "don't touch them, they haven't been washed out!" One guy said 'That's ok'. I said no it's NOT! It's all or nothing! He stepped back and I said the landfill has never refused me so that's where it's ALL going! I got the But those bottles are deposit! And I replied tough, it's the landfill for them! I stopped at the neighbor's house on the way back through to the landfill and gave the neighbor girl the deposit bottles. When I get some deposit bottles I call her and she picks them up. Everything else goes straight to the landfill.

Yeah, what Thurlow said.

We recycle everything we can. All goes in a big GREEN can, set it out by the road every other week. Reason? recycle can is less $$ than garbage. Don't know what they do with it when it gets to the plant, don't care.

IBOrange, NO, our trash is not sorted, just one big cart and away it goes, To Williamson County Land fill out North of Hutto Tx. If, and when I need a paint cap for something I have many more caps on various spray cans,,, I can rob one!
