Small Lawn Mower Tire Changer

Hi ,

After changing a few lawn mower tires to repair or put in a tube with a hammer and two screw drivers ,it got me to wondering - Do they make a reasonablly priced tire changer for lawnmower tires ? One that can change the back tires as well as the smaller front tires ,on the everyday lawn mower brands that are made for home use , even the smaller ones on the front of the old rear mounted Snapper mowers as well as four wheeler tires or small golf cart tires or small trailer tires ? Wheather it be air , hydrualic or manually ( hand ) powered . I mean one similiar to the ones used for car tires . I'd like to have one to save time as well as back aches . I found this one on Harbor Frieght . It has good reviews , but you know what they say about Harbor Frieght stuff. Seems that I remember reading a few bad reviews about it a few months ago , though. Anyone ever bought or used this brand or any other brand ? Do you know of any good ones ? Thanks for any and all help .

I've done quite a few small tires and have the scars on my knuckles to prove it. I use a large bolt in my vise to hole the wheel, vise grips on the rim and tire spoons. This looks like it would save a lot of blood and foul words if you have the space and a place to bolt it down. Will it hold up? At $40, it's worth a shot...but it's on backorder.

The Harbor Freight works great. I mounted mine to a piece of square tubing. When I want to use it, I just stick into the receiver hitch on my pickup.

Do not know about the little one but I have the full size one and have dismounted quite a few, most were on wheels with junk tires that I wanted to save the wheels, Works ok with passenger type tires but not heavy enough for heavy truck tires oe at least I did not have enough strength for them. The built in bead breaker tho is usless but I have axcess to one of the type shown to use so I would sujest geting the small one shown as well at the same time. When I bought mine they had a tire spreader attachment for it that I wanted, did not have the money at the time, year later whent back to get it, discontinued. That is why I say get the bead breaker and any other tools for it that you think you might ever need at the same time as if you don't they may be no longer avaible when you decide you need them. On mine that tire spreader that I wanted but was no longer avaible, A friend does some junking and a couple of weeks later he stoped by and he just happened to have one on his truck that he got with a load of scrap so got one for nuthing. Most of his junking is water heaters, refrigerators and stoves and the like, no machinery.

I bought one from HF about a year ago, clamped it in my vise. works OK. Be better when I get it mounted solid. Bought one of the large ones at the same time but haven't used it yet.

I have one of those H.F. mini tire changers too. The bead breaker is great and no more pinched tubes. Just got to tie it to a good'n heavy bench. I'd say it's worth the $40 I paid for it...
