Rust prevention products?

I'm putting a new floor in my cattle trailer. The treated boards weren't really that rotten, but the steel angle iron crossmembers the wood floor was fastened to were almost completely rusted away. I'm picking up the new crossmembers today and wondering what I should paint them with to get a little more life out of them on these Minnesota salt lanes.

I was going to just paint them with Rustoleum, but I'm wondering if there are some better options available in the same price range. I see Undercoating Sealant products for the same price per can, but I wonder how far one of those cans will go compared to paint.

Ideas?

Can you still buy that nasty/stringy roof paint???? Used to have a rubberized paint in the army that we painted battery boxes with, should be able to find something like that. Rustoleum would be better than nothing and prolly outlast you (at least the wood).

I like Chassis Saver. Needs to be top coated with somthing though maybe Rust-O-Leum or nasty stringy roof paint.

Instant cold galvanize. Comes in big rattle cans and is a bit spendy $15 or so a can but lasts almost comparable to hot dip. It is what the fence guys use for fabricated hardware on fences.

Rustoleum 9100 series DTM epoxy paint. Get it at Graingers. I"ve used it on snowmobile frames with no issues for years. Also slush guards with no rust or chipping.

Would Herculiner pick up bed coating work? I've never used it myself, but always wondered if it might be a good product.

I tried a roll-on bedliner on a trailer frame about 10 years ago. Within 2 years it was rusted pretty bad, to the point where you would have never known I had painted it.

Gempler's Rust Converter works pretty good. I used it on the inside of an old manure spreader and was happy with the results.

Gempler's Rust Converter works pretty good. I painted the insides of a rusted manure spreader and it stopped the rust.

As I understand it, it can be used as a primer.
