Got robbed

Friday night? a kid apparently walked onto our place which is off the road and cranked the four wheeler. Then he loaded a chainsaw and a five gallon gas can in the box on the four wheeler and drove out. Saturday before noon my son noticed the saw gone and asked us all if we had borrowed it. Monday morning noticed the four wheeler gone and the gas can. Called the sheriff and two deputies came and got info. A few minutes later someone about half mile away saw a kid on a four wheeler and knew he wasn't supposed to have one. called deputies and several converged on the place within minutes. Kid tries to run down 3 deputies with the four wheeler then flips it. He gets up and runs while deputies pursue. Even brought in dogs to track him.
Got the four wheeler back with a "new" paint job the kid had sprayed on. Search warrant turned up nothing on the chain saw or gas can. Probably sold Saturday. The gas can was full of hydraulic fluid and was clearly labeled as such. The deputies knew who the kid was and will catch him and will be charged with theft and 3 counts of assault.
We have good lawmen in our county and they do react quickly.
Now time to invest in security cameras.

Depending on the age of the "kid" maybe a good thumping is in order. Guaranteed he won't be so cavalier about robbing honest folks again.

Had a neighbor get ripped off. Tv's, computer, jewlery, gun, car on a trailer, law was not moving Neighbor had his own plane so stared some airial survalence spotted car and trailer on some property when investigated by the law it lead to rest of items. The old boy had a bunch of minors doing the work. Law will not procecute them because they are underage.

i had a car stolen about a month ago,police wouldnt even look for it.talked to my insurance agent yesterday and they are going to have a investigator look for it.pretty sure who took it because daughter was babysitting,noticed her keys missing after the mother picked the child up,the car was seen leaving about 4am,went thru a toll booth at 5;57 am without paying toll,her so called friend quit her job, and moved out of her house the evening before car was stolen,and no one has seen or heard from her since.all i can say about a thief is ,they sure messed up when they eliminated public hanging!!!

a key is only required by honest folks. 4 wheelers are easily hotwired.
But the memory of broken fingers lasts forever!! LOL

My opinion and post were directed to Richard G. It was not intended for you .Apparently he has one dishonest neighbor. The whole story is doubtful. Sounds made up. The suspected thief tried to ride down 3 Police Officers and they let him get away until later?

John, it is all true. Yes the key was in the ignition. Even the deputies said that they can hot wire one in a few seconds. We have lived here 33 years and never had trouble. Never had to lock things up. We are honest hard working people and I do take offense at your remarks. The deputies did their best at chasing him and tracking him. The deputies are in very good shape physically by the way, in case you were about to ask. They know who he is and will get him. I hate both a thief and a liar and I really get upset when someone doubts my honesty.

My mother has lived in this town for thirty years. Never had a problem with anyone. Never locked her door. Two kids moved up from Houston. Steal anything that is not nailed down. But since they are minors not much the law can do. Went into her house and stole food while she was gone. My brother and I explained to the kids what could happen. If we catch them. Local law said it would be a shame if they fell down some night.

Had a 611 New Holland field chopper stolen and the cops wouldn't even come and take a report. Lazy government employees.

Theft is illegal no matter what your age is. That's why they have juvenile detention facilities. And for those juvenile that get caught in the act by the homeowners they have childrens' hospitals.

What is there NOT to believe about this story? I have heard of two or three thieves in our area trying to run down lawmen lately. This Harmon cat either lives in a gated community or has never had to deal with theft of personal goods that he worked his a$$ off to obtain.

The bigger the population gets the less accountability there seems to be. We have several generations of kids now that have never been spanked. Is it any wonder they have no respect?

I grew up in rural Iowa and we never locked anything up. We had very few problems. What few problems we had were resolved quickly with force as needed. In other words azz woopens were the order of the day. Capital punishment does work.

There is a lot to say for small town accountability.

One of my grand sons is on the local football team. The bad parts is about half of the guys have never been told NO by any one. He had a Cook out and hay ride last fall on the farm. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Two weeks later I was woke up by my dog raising all kinds of He!!. The dog is a big cross breed Germany Shepperd/St. Bernard. I got mu shoot gun and went out to see what was going on. The dog had two guys treed on top of my fuel tank. I called the dog off and held the guys until the law got there. They where two guys that played football with my grand son. They had seen the fuel tanks and thought that they could sneak in and fill up their car. They had coasted the car down the lane and up to the fuel tanks. They did not know that I had a big dog as he was locked up the night of the party/cook out. They got six months probation and a small fine. They will be stealing again. Not a hard enough punishment for stealing. I told them if I ever saw them again on my place they would find out how a butt fill of buck shot feels like.

To those that are giving Richard cane about his four wheeler having the key in it. Why is it his fault or even mine if some one steals something of mine??? You should not have to make your property Fort Knox to stop thieves. My house is rarely locked to this day. The keys are in just about every vehicle on the place. I am not going to make fifteen sets of keys for the honest family members to keep out a crook. I will just shoot the crook!!!!

Trying to run some one down is assualt with a deadly weapon and can bring gun fire at you.The deputies know that shootig a teenager will bring a lot of crap.Teenagers are light and fast so chasing them on foot wont work.When I saw punks driving crazy I just made a note of time and date. went to their house later and gave them a ticket.Fellow just got shot twice trying to run down 2 cops here.

Ok Mr. Harmon. Hope you never have to feel what it is like to have a trespasser and thief take something of yours.
