O/T 2004 Ranger no start

Ford 3.0L, manual, cranks but no start. Here"s what I have so far; no check engine light, fuses look good, 60 psi at the fuel rail, spark at #1 when cranking, crankshaft and cam position sensors both change resistance when tripped, fuel pump works. I suspect the EDIS coil but can"t find the specs for resistance, when I checked the four terminals at the coil, I found a direct short, I was expecting a nominal value. Anybody know which terminals to check or what to look for next? Thanks in advance!

Got injector pulse ? spray lil carb spray into throttle body see if it trys to fire . Throttle position sensor can stick wide open put it in "Clear flood mode" shutting off injector pulse .

Thanks for the reply! I have an OBD II scanner and it has "Monitor Mode" which shows the actual percentage of the throttle and it was moving throughout the range when I moved the throttle. I would hope that the TPS would at least throw a code. I did spray some fluid in it downstream of the MAF and it coughed and backfired but didn"t run at all. That"s what leads me to suspect the EDIS.

get a "noid light " most parts stores have them , plugs into injector harness , will flash if injector is getting pluse , or you can use a test light and probe, one side is hot with key on , other side is ground ,controled by puter to fire inj , if light flashes , you have pulse.

I"ll check that out. With key ON or while Cranking? Bryan, I appreciate your help, Thanks again!

You might also want to visit the Ranger Station, go to the forums, find the 3.0 section and ask your question.
I asked a couple of questions on my 88 2.9 and got some no nonsense answers, very smart and knowlegeable folks over there. They tend to be more into the pre-runners but you will get the help you need!

Rangers used to have switch on right side that could need to be reset. Might be called bump switch when another car hits you. Shuts off fuel I think. Know you said you have pressure but could it be residual or did you release pressure and then check. Also there is a fuse link(hard to spot)forgot what it controls but will stop from running. Dave

If I may throw in my two cents, have you checked the timing? Just because it has spark on #1 doesn't necessarily mean the timing is correct. If it has high miles, one of the timing gears could be stripped. (I think this one has a chain.) Keep us posted and good luck.

I'd give it a shot of gas down the intake, either with a spray bottle or just a splash and see if it tries to fire. If it doesn't you have a spark problem. if it does... you have a fuel problem.
If it's a spark problem I'd start by changing the plugs and wires. Beyond that... the 3L is a distributorless ignition. The ECM tells the coil pack when to fire based on crankshaft position if I'm not mistaken... Also, I believe the whole thing... or at least a pair of 2 fire at the same time... so just because you see spark does not mean it's the correct time for the spark...
To be honest... any problems I've had with mine in that department have been cured by plugs and wires.
A fuel pump has cured the fuel problems... but since you say it's got 60 lb on the rail I doubt that's the problem.

MANY THANKS to all who replied!!! This rain is slowing me down, I may not get back to it until this weekend. When/if I get it going I"ll post back with the results. Again, I appreciate all the help!
