worst tractor youve ever owned

what tractor that you have owned was the worst and would never buy again or if you havent had a terrible tractor what would you think would be the worst. for me it was my case 4490. the worst tractor i think is jd.

I have personally never owned a Bad tractor. I have 8 tractors at present time and I like them all. I work on tractors for a living ane I can name a few that I would not own, just from my experience of working on them. A few that comes to mind is Long- Zetor-Belarus-some of the John Deeres-none of the Chinese junk and at the top of my list is Kubota.

I'd say an IH 584, but it was not its fault. It had 6000 hours on the
broken meter that had been broken for half its life. It had not been
well cared for, only the repairs to keep it going.

Thats when it became mine. It was great when it worked. But it
was broken down all the time.

It was replaced by a low hour Kubota that has been absolutely
great.

Case vai, only thing any good was the engine, but it was 70 years old, don't think I'll be worth a chit when I'm 70 either.

I have never owned one, but the worst tractor I ever operated was a Minn. Moline UB. The tractor had all kinds of power, but was the most uncomfortable driving tractor I have ever driven.

oh nevermind about the case now i just remembered about my long 610 that i put 15hrs on after i bought it and had oil pouring out the blowby tube. has 2 busted pistons. only has 1000hrs on it. it has been sitting in my barn for the past 10yrs or so. that exeeds being the worst tractor ive ever owned.

230 IH Farmall rowcrop with fast hitch equipment.
Spent half its life with the front wheels bouncing off the ground.
Brakes were mostly nonexistent.
Very dangerous series of tractors in my opinion.

Thats funny,My late father always said that the "big M" was the best tractor EVER built.I agree.Steve

The worst was a '63 IH 706.Funny thing,The best tractor ever is my '67 IH 706(310)-still own it.The worst I ever drove and would never buy is a 1070 Case.I've run 2 or 3 of them.

The worst tractor for me was a John Deere 2210. I bought it new and it had a transmission problem the dealer either couldn't or wouldn't fix it. I attempted to contact John Deere directly and they ignored me. I finally stopped paying for it and eventually they took it back.
I'll never buy another John Deere, new or used.

Those unfortunate few farmers who owned the Ford 6000 Commander probably had one of the worst tractors ever only because of the aptly named SOS transmission that was simply not ready to be marketed in a tractor of that size and power.

Worst? My Father in laws Allis 160 diesel. What a pos! He just hobby farms and it should have velcro fasteners because its always apart! Ugly to look at, ugly to fix, and ugly moving through the field. Parts hard to get too.

I have a JD 2010 gas which I like alot. My worst was a worn out Ford 9N, that was junk. My Int 300U bugs me since working on it is an access night mare.

Oliver 70. It actually wasn't a bad tractor--if you could ever get the dammed thing started.

It was almost routine to either pull it or put it in a belt with a VAC Case to start it. And if you ever killed it in the field, you might as well find a shade tree for a half hour.

ih hydro 84 money pit. former mennonite tractor. they can cobble with the best of them. i never had so many things go wrong to fix, some twice. i traded it towards a new manure spreader.

Case 1290, it had everything I disliked about a Case/DB 990 such as leaks, micky mouse electronics, and everything behind something else with some improvements to make things even more behind something else, micky mouse shifters and sheet metal, and an even more uncomfortable seat.

The question was worst you have ever owned! I've only owned 4 tractors...the M was and still is the worst! Wouldn't buy another IH unless it was a 560 or newer! And with the way the my local CaseIH dealer is with parts would really have to think that over.

The worst was a 1976 Allis-Chalmers 185. I bought it in 1987 and could not believe that a tractor that new still had to use the hand clutch to have live PTO. It had 1900 original hours. Local neighbor owned it from new, I was second. It would fly out of fourth gear. Three point hitch control was bad. I only owned that tractor four months and sold it at a $500 loss. I was still glad to see it go. The wife told me to never have another AC on the place. She had driven it to square bale with and hated that short little hand clutch/hi/low lever. Finally by the end of the day she was just kicking it with her foot to shift it.

Second place would be a John Deere 2010. Worst JD tractor ever built. Terrible to work on. I refuse to work on them any more. I am too old to have that much aggravation.

Can"t say I"ve owned one I really disliked running, but as far as a tractor that was uncomfortable and cubersome to run I say the 825 Belarus, tried to run one mowing hay for a neighbor and never did figure out the transmission.

I AGREE that the 2010 was NOT Deere's finest, but in WHAT way are they any more aggravatingly or difficult to work on than MANY other tractors, not to mention the modern ones from which large amounts of PLASTIC have to be removed for access to ANYTHING!

my father bought a 2010 gas brand new,he said it was the worst he ever had! This is a picture of it around 1970, he got rid of it shortly after this picture was taken

IH 574 gasser. Only reason I kept it as long as I did was because I never could get enough of the problems fixed at one time to sell it. Gas hog doesn't begin to describe it. Electrical problems, shifter problems, hydraulic problems, power steering problems, ect. Only had 450 hours on it when I bought it (less than 2 years old) I know now why original owner sold it.

190XT diesel; actually belonged to my Dad when I was still working for him. He'd bought a new 4020 in '65 and needed another 90 horse tractor a couple of years later; looked at 930 Case, 806, 1100, etc. A-C dealer had this one with a few hundred hours on it. Carried it home and built a rack for a set of saddle tanks; gonna use it to incorporate Treflan. First day, oil starts pouring out; seems it had about 5 different oils/compartments. Drain the chemicals, take the tanks off, take the racks apart, carry it to the dealer. Got it back in about a week; put the tanks back on, go to the field......same thing happened. The THIRD time it happened that Spring, we left it sittig at the dealer's front door; he refunded ALL the money; we drove across town and Dad bought a second/new 4020.

Out of the 16 or 17 tractors that I've owned the worst one that I cussed the most, broke down the most, and cost me money all the time was a 445 Long Tractor. It was made in Romania had a Fiat engine and at the time I had it parts were hard to come by.

When my parents bought the farm back in the sixties it came with a couple old AC's and a Massey Harris, they kept the Massey but the AC's were soon traded for Oliver 880's.
Through the years we mainly had Olivers and a MM U302. Of the Olivers the 1750 had to be a lemmon, that tractor drove us crazy, it all ended one afternoon chopping corn when the engine sent a rod threw the block breaking off the injection pump.
We also had a SAME Jaguar 95 that was reliable but nobody liked using it.

Starting out on my own farm I bought quite a few Auction tractors at different times but settled on the AC brand. In the first 10 years all my tractors were AC with the WD45 gas being the ractor of choice at the time. I heard of a AC WD45 diesel for sale and as I admired the diesels looks a lot I went ahead and bought it.What a mistake. Before I could use it much I had to replace the head. It never was a good starter and that was a no-no on a dairy farm. Then after the first real planting season I had to replace the head again. It kept cracking the water jacket. Finally I got mad and went to see my cousin who was a saleman for the local AC dealer and traded the diesel off on a new AC D17 gas.Good tractor,I kept it as long as I farmed,

Our extended family farm arrangement Grandpa always wanted to own at least on of the tractors after he retired. When the international 300U finally gave up he bought a new 574U with a loader. I don't know which tractor was worse, rough riding pos models. Should have been Fords, fixed or repaired daily.

My Grandpa also owned a 6000 (a late-model Commander). Think it was his 2nd Ford, but helped get him away from IH also.
I've driven a bunch of brands, and there are some I'd never own, but as the question was about 'worst owned', I'll have to say my 850 Ford. Hard on gas (I'm used to diesels), not enough gear ratios, and always finding something that needed to be fixed. One of only 2 tractors I've lost money on. (currently have 5, have owned 19, all Fords)

all of mine, i had to spend my money to buy/ own them,,,lol...and i don't have a farm, they sit in the back yard till shows/prades/pulls..lol...lol

The 3020 I had was not bad on gas, considering it's C.I.D., the truly maddening thing was trying to look over my right shoulder at the haybine, while trying to operate the hydraulic levers on the console. On the plus side, I don't think there was ever an easier remote system, for the ease of plugging in the hoses.

IH 724 with an agromatic transmission. Absolute POS in ever possible way. I couldn't find a big enough cliff to push that thing over.

In 1970, I bought a John Deere M, with a 2/14
plow, for plowing gardens. It just didn't have
enough power, and I couldn't plow full depth.
Mine had very tall tires, and the previous owner
had used it for cultivating. It was probably ok
for that. I've seen JD M's with many tire sizes
and it might have been ok with lower wheels/tires

I really have yet to own a tractor I didn`t like, but to say worst, the 8N would have to get it. Lack of live hydraulics on the 3 point, and no live PTO, and even with calcium in the tires it always spins out before it powers out, needs more weight. That said, I love the thing. Grew up running it, has ran forever (with a few head gaskets and such) and has kept the brush beat back in the ditches and treelines for years.
