my elecrtric door lock button just barely moves the knob to unlock door and doesnt fully unlock it antbody else have this problem and what fixxed it use this truck to haul my pulling tractors on my bigtex trailer old 7.3 power stroke sure has the power

I have never checked but I can't imagine it being anything but a 12 volt solenoid. I have had experience with solenoids developing a coating of rust causing sluggish operation. Light oil would probably correct it.

your gonna need to replace the door lock actuator. Remove the door trim panel it is attatched to the latch.

F250 trucks 1997 and older use a motor to lock and unlock the doors. This motor is located low an to the back of the door. It is easily replaced with door panel off. It is held on by one screw or small bolt located below the latch almost to the bottom of the door. I have had good luck with removing cleaning lubricating and reinstalling. Frank

Follow the instructions in the link provided by Ol Roy. I have a 99 F350 that I performed this procedure on(removed actuators and wrapped that small plate with aluminum foil)and the door locks have worked perfectly for over 8 months. Saved me like $60 per door for new actuators. Instead of using a zip tie to hold the actuator together after it has been opened up, I used a soldering iron and re-melted the plastic tabs.

I agree with Roy and Tim. It took me about an hour to do both the driver's and passenger sides on my 2000 F150. I wrapped them in tin foil about two years ago. They are working great. Ryan

Go to FTE and type in "power door locks fixed"in the search box. There you will find 49 pages of info on Ford pwr. door locks.

They are not solenoids but motors with a gear rack.Strange system.Ive worked on them.Very expensive if you buy them in the wrong place. My motor was held in by a 1/4 inch pop rivet. They give much trouble and are one of Fords dimmer ideas. The door lock is a stinker.A pivot point rusts badly even though it has a plastic cover.
