Jd 609 brush hog

I know this is a long shot any one know where I could buy a gear box for a 609 jd brush hog? Broke the shaft on mine.About the only thing that can go wrong on a hog is the gear box so to find one will be hard.Either that or is their a place to find parts other than JD I wonder if JD build them or they bought the gear boxes from a outside vender.JD wants 460.00 for shaft

Have you tried A&I? What's the SN of cutter or brand gearbox (JD,Comer or Iberica)?

mosinee dave, I have an old, old 407 JD shredder It was built around 1960. Call your local Deere Dealer! I can still get a new "input shaft" for it. I will bet a Big Red sodawater that Deere can still get parts for Yours.
Just be ready to turn loose of $$$$ for that shaft. The 407 shredder I have has the same boxes as the old 707 Gyromower solid deck stalk cutter series. The input shaft is $450 for mine,,,,"OUCH"

can"t help you on the shaft, but i believe the 509, 609, and 709 all used the same gearbox. darn good mowers.
