Update: Survived Surgery

Well, I apologize, I survived the operation so I'll be back on here occasionally bothering ya'll.
That was back in May, had a bit of a rough go.
Too late for the nerves, probably won't come out of it,
but it surprisingly eased my headaches, (can I say thank God?).
Funny, them messin around the spinal cord, now my left leg buckles every now and then with no warning. Trade-off for the headaches, I guess. It was the left side nerve damaged the worst, so that makes sense, I guess. Half the time the valve in my throat sticks open, so that's always fun. That's improving, though, and hopefully will heal all together. They say that's pretty normal.

To Summarize--I'd hoped for a miracle, but knew that was just false hopes the way the docs talked. But I'm doin' alright for the shape I'm in. I'll be checkin in from time to time, hope all has been well for everyone while I been off healin up.

Ya'll thought ya got lucky and got rid of me, huh?

Welcome back! Glad to hear you are recovering.

I took a bad fall 2 years ago,,, suffered a brain hemorage.... got lucky and got the right brain surgeon,,, here today bugging everyone and pretty happy about it. One side of my body is asleep (pins and needles) most of the time. I've learned to live with it. It is my new normal. I'm very happy to have it the alternative was not good.

Get well, enjoy life and live it fully!

L.

Sooo very glad you"re back and healing. Nerves are slow to heal, so don"t give up on that. Remember, we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Good to hear that your surgery went well and you"ve gotten some relief from the headaches.

Glad you"re back and hope the healing continues.

I REALLY appreciate the warm welcome back, everyone.
I was debatin whether I should mention this other bad side effect,
but it doesn't really matter, and I'm ok with it (gotta be), but:
This was my fifth surgery in three years, plus all the doc appts, physical therapy, paperwork, paperwork, paperwork, and though I hide my pain pretty well, I'd need some assistance at times (still do), even gettin dressed somedays, can't pull my boots on, hook my bibs, button a shirt, on good days I can, but slow...I could go on and on, but the other casualty of all this is my wife got tired of all of it, plus the nurse-maiding, me not bein able to help with chores much, watchin her spouse go thru all this...she left and is pursuin the big "D". I understand, told her I'd leave too, if I could, lol. Told her any sane woman would have left a long time ago, lol. We're stayin friends, its all good, she just doesn't want to be married to me anymore. Last thing I'd ever expected from her, she's a good woman.
At least I don't have to wait on the bathroom in the mornins anymore, put whatever I want on the radio or tv, all kinds a good things to think of.
Gotta be. Like Walter Cronkite,"and that's the way it is".
Really got a new life ahead of me now. Doin alright, can't complain. We're all pretty blessed just livin in this country...doin alright.

Maybe I shouldn't of shared, but hey, facts are facts. Not lookin for sympathy, I just REALLY have to man-up now, lol.
It's all good... :D

Dan,
Glad you're back and hope you have more recovery!

As far as the marriage thing, we got married for better or worse. Hope she takes care of me when I get worse and better.

Jim

If you are able to climb on an old antique tractor and take a day ride on some of these crisp fall days comming up , out through the farm country and even watch the harvesting and back home to a jug of fresh apple cider and a faithful old dog at your feet and a copy of your favorite old iron magazine in the easy chair , then "life is good" !!! You take care now. RB

Dan,
Glad you have made it through the first ordeal, sure hope your wife has second thoughts on that big "D" idea. maybe she is thinking it to be good self therapy for you to make yourself get better.

You're so very right, unfortunately can't operate tractor anymore. Sold off alot, but got the AC WD, and really enjoy watchin my neighbors usin it around my shop and such. The neighbors boy, 11, and I, worked out a deal on my AC C. He's one of the proudest kids around. Even took it to tractor pulls, a parade, and more plans. His dad's teachin him, and he's learnin, doin good. I'm proud of him.

That's just about as good as operatin one myself, but I certainly miss it.
I'll always have at least one, and I'll probably get more as $ permit, even though I can't do a d*mn thing on them, they're just good company :D

Yes, and my dogs are the greatest. All rescues, 2 just in the nick of time, they're very grateful and loyal. Like Will Rogers said, "When I die, I hope I go where the dogs go". Lotta truth in that.

Life is good,
Dan

If you take your wife and your dog, put them in the trunk of your car,
then come back in an hour and let them out---guess who's gonna be HAPPY to see you?
