Are parts available if needed? How many bushels can they dry a day and how dry can they get it? Do they damage the grain much? One close to me for $900. There is also a Farm Fan AB/180 dryer for $3500. Wondering which would be better for me. I do have to drying facilities within 10 miles, but if I good get a decent older dryer for under a grand, would be nice for the smaller quantities I have storage for.

Dave most of the parts on a Tox O Wix dryer are generic parts.

The bearings, auger flighting, burner parts and sheet metal can be found.

There were millions of bushels dryed in this area with a Tox O Wix. Most of them just rusted away as bigger dryer setups were bought.

By the way have you looked at your beans lately? Did they fill out?

We got a couple nice rains here in the last 10 days and the pods are filling.

For the most part they did. Could have used a little more rain the other week. All but one feild is starting to yellow. I have one feild that is starting to lodge in quite a few spots, very tall beans, heavily podded, not much I can do about it. I am suprised that the beans I planted on 15" rows are shorter than the 30" rows. Last year the narrower rows were taller. may 12th planted corn looks like it will be ready to harvest before the beans, 95 day corn and husk's are all loose, cobs starting to hang, and you can shell off the kernals pretty easy, maybe I will have some low moisture corn after all, still have 60 days before I should have to worry about snow.

Comparing a pto Toxowic to a FF AB180 is apples to oranges. Totally different concept. Toxowic was popular 30 years ago, but it needs a babysitter. Likely each batch will take several hours, depending on moisture. Test each batch, cool down, unload, reload, etc. FF is an automatic batch dryer- loads and unloads by itself...need a wet bin ahead of it, the dryer will shut down when the bin is empty, or a malfunction with motors, augers, etc. 180 is likely the solid state controls, better than the earlier radio tube model like the AB8B, that I have, although maintenance has been minimal in the 13 years I"ve had my 1979 model. I get mine set right within 1-2 batches, then it"s good for the season. It will compensate automatically if a slug of wetter corn comes in. I paid $2800 for mine- that 180 is newer and holds half again as much as mine.

We"ve been using a Tox-O-Wic 500 bu dryer for quite a few years now.Good dryers. Most parts you would need are common bearings, gears, belts, etc.

One of the most important things to keep an eye on are the bearings that support and contain the large sprocket and stirring arm that goes around the base.Grease "em every day and make sure they are turning free.I even grease them when done drying in the fall. Also don"t let the inner chamber temp get any higher than 240 degrees, otherwise the corn dries too fast and wrecks your test weight. The gauge is the large one above the burn chamber facing forward.

We usually run about 2,000 bushel through ours per day.We dry it down to 15.7% and dump it hot in the bin, then put air to it and on to the next.Always have consistant 58 and 59lb. test weights. As far as damage to the grain,it"s not a problem. It actually takes out all the bee"s wings for a clean sample.

We had the lower basket rebuilt by a fellow in Conger MN about 8 years ago and a few other things, but overall a good unit.Brozkoff structures in Geneva MN has parts on hand.
