1/2 ton value

I've had a request to purchase my 1988 Ford XLT 1/2 ton. It's been sitting in the back yard since late October last year, and started up on first try. It has a 302 motor, four speed with overdrive standard transmission, burns no oil. It needs some minor repairs. What should I ask for it ?

tough question without more data. A 22 year old truck value is really based on its utility now since it is not an antique yet. Is it:
1. Single cab?
2. Low Mileage?<100k
3. Shape of body -all rusted out???
4. Will it pass inspection if needed?
5. Tires?
6. Cab condition?
7. 4X4?

if all of these are positive, I would start at $5,000 or more.

It's a single cab. decent inside.Body has normal rust. About 170000 kilometers, good Michelin tires, 2 wheel drive. I think it would pass inspection if I fixed the parking brake.

I've had a '95 F150 XLT 2wd that is loaded with every available option, new tires. It's high milage but looks and runs good, so far I've had no takers at $1500. It depends on where your at, I guess.

Here are two ads from yesterday's paper: 1998 Dodge Dakota x-cab,5pd.power options, $5300.00---1983 Chevy Scottsdale 4x4 needs head gasket and one door glass, $1500.00 obo.
Last spring I bought a 1987 Dodge Dakota 4cyl 5spd excellent body and running gear, blown engine for $350.00, basically junk price. Couple months ago I bought a 1986 F-150 XLT Lariat shortbed. AOD, power everything, rebuilt engine and trans, new paint. I shelled out $2000.00 for it.

A couple years ago I sold my 94 F150 5.0, auto, 2WD, reg cab, 180K mi, normal rust-----for $1000. It was probably the best truck I've ever owned.

Now I've got a 99 F250 super duty??????? Not sure what's so super duty. Had more repairs in two years than 7 years with the old 94 and far fewer miles.
