Hi, is there a web site for to look up the weight of farm machinery such as combines balers and other light equipment to give an idea how much to spend for scrap iron. THANKS

I don't think you're going to get a lot of support from the folks on this site if you're looking to make money by scrapping old farm equipment.

Know your audience, pal.

(quoted from post at 06:46:14 09/05/11) Steady, boys, this guy's just yanking our chain... I think

Probably so. But, if you look at it another way, could be real handy to have a good list, even if it's just a bunch of folks weighing their stuff and taking an average to make up a good list. That way when driving across the country and you spot something in the fence row (like beatles65 for example), you could have a haggling reference. Tell farmer jones "scrap man'll give you $XX if you haul it in, I'll give you $yy and pick it up AND keep it in it's proper form"

(quoted from post at 07:10:35 09/05/11) people skills part 2?????

Been just a leeeeetle bit cranky over the weekend with today being the worst. Saturday, was in a big barn ful of horses and all the goodies that go with them (hay, straw, sawdust, and a manure pile that was perculating pretty good with a big no smoking sign at every entrance and scattered around inside. Smelled something and looked up to see a moron a couple feet away chuggin on a cigar.....first reflex was knock it out of his hand and step on it......Guess he thought my people skills kinda sucked..... Then today, a coworker thought he was gonna bring a couple buddies and watch a ball game on the office television. That's the one that called me an abrasive person when I unplugged the TV and told him (them) to get out.... Gotta catch up on some sleep this evening I guess.....

I think you're right Fritz.Nobody's that dim,are they? Then again, the guy can't even spell "scrapper"................

You're absolutely right. That is, in fact, how I
calculate MY offers to a given owner. But I don't
think it's that hard to guess how much a baler might
weigh. If you really need to know, I think there's
better ways to find out than sticking your head in a
lion's mouth. I think everybody's hung over
anyway... haven't seen any real caustic posts as of
1:00 pm...
