rain on paint job

its open forum time-lol. i painted a tractor
and a boatload of tinwork today. theres a 20 percent chance of rain after 2am. should i put the tractor under roof??

Probably wont hurt a thing. Wouldn't want hail on it though.
If you used a hardener in the paint you could just about spray it down with a hose as soon as you finish cleaning your gun.
I wouldn't worry about it - especially at only 20%

Can't help but notice around here atleast that when they say 20% chance it usually rains then when they say it's gonna rain for sure, a 100% chance, the suns shining and I'm scratchin my head woundering where all the rain is

INSIDE ... painted serveral thins all in one day , left the baler and sc case outside becausei did not want to cause dust , rest i got under roof,, heavy du next am , caused the paint to orange peel and texture on baler and tractr ,, chisel plow, planter and feed grinder look great ..

good replies--10pm-i put the starter and battery on and put it in the shed. i did not use hardener. i could see dew causing orange peel.

You can get all kinds of contaminated acid rainwater BTDT. Lincoln Towncar 7 days after painting was ruined by bad rainwater in SanDiego CA.

If it's tacked up enough to touch rain won't hurt it one bit. In fact it might speed up the curing process a little by helping to remove residual solvents. "Solvent emulsion" is the term if I'm not mistaken.

I wouldn't use it on vehicle paint, but for oil based building paints you can add a little camphor oil and the odor will drive the insects away from the work.
