800-801 series

The 801 series were just a newer model of the 800 series, some with minor improvements.

And Oldtanker, he is asking about Ford Tractors.

I know this is a tractor forum, but it seems like everybody wants to talk about everything but tractors. h20john actually aked a question about a tractor and got hammered.

Main differences were the sheet metal (fenders and grill), paint scheme, and the 801 got a bigger carb that gave it about 4 extra h.p..... and a considerably bigger appetite. The Select-O-Speed transmission and diesel engines also became options on the 801 - weren't available when the hundred series was built.

800 series fords made from 1955 to 1957 The 801 made from 1958 to 1962. Both used the 172 if gas engine but the 800 series used a smaller carb and also the intake/exhaust manifold is a tad bit smaller. Also a few of the models where not offered in the 800 series that the 801 series had.

The differences between the 800 and 801 SERIES don't amount to a hill of beans. The 801 is mo' betta, but not by much.

What IS significant is the differences between the different MODELS in the 800/801 series. Big differences between 841, 851, 861 and 871. If you're buying, learn what they are and be sure of what you're buying.
