"THE DEED" how to tackle it????

Need more room. Have several "corners" that translate to a 12x30 room, 2 10x10 stalls, a roomy attic, and a couple of significant other areas that are cluttered to the point of not really remembering what is in them. Wife is going away for 7 days and I want to have most of the stuff gone/straightened up.

Would you...
1) pull up a wagon and load everything for the dump saving only tools and new in package stuff

2) sort thru reorganize and junk a little

3) turn a blind eye and deaf ear and load everything in the area for the dump with the idea that if you hadn't seen it in a couple years (tools included) you don't need it... (common sense applies)

THEN, What would you do to keep the same mess from happening again? I am one of them "better to have and not need, than need and not have" kinda folks....

Thanks for any constructive input.

Dump all of her useless junk, and restack all of your important stuff. Then drink a beer.

or better plan, buy her a nice gift and tell her how you missed her. Hire the neighbor kids to mow the grass and pull weeds to impress her.

Identify/categorize and do not ever throw her stuff away. This erodes marital bliss. What makes my wife happy is to show her stuff that is not useful, but has value if you sell it on ebay, then help her dispose of it that way. She will then usually help dispose of the rest.

For your stuff, which of course has value, devise a way to dispose of things no longer being used and categorize/store those things that are still useful.

Just my 2 euros... oops, you are still using marks right?

I cleaned out my 40x40 barn a few years back. The 1st day, I moved stuff around. I cleared out a spot about 4x4. Really. The 2nd day, I started to toss a few items. I cleared a spot about 8x8. The 3rd day, I said fxxx! it, I threw most everything away, mostly wood scraps left over from building the barn 10 years before. I had them plied up in neat little piles, organized by size. But after moving the piles multiple times, it occured to me, that if I hadn't used it in 10 years, I'd probably never need it. I cleaned out the whole barn in a couple hours. On the plus side I had one heck of a bonfire that weekend. Would have been better if my buddy hadn't been doing Jager & doing a firedance, after falling into the fire... Good thing god looks out for drunks 8)
