Running single line hydraulic cylinder off a Massey 255

How would I be able to hook a single line hydraulic cylinder for a haybine to my Massey 255 with remote. Someone told me that all I have to do is hook up to the raise remote line. It doesn't work that way, don't work if I hook up to the down remote either. Just wondering if it can be done. Mine has the 2 hydraulic pumps and I'm thinking that I'll have to hook a remote in on top of the tranny like my 165 Massey is. Thanks in advance, Keith

You should find a pipe plug threaded into the rear end housing just under where the remote valve would bolt to the housing, OR, where the blank plate would be in the event there is no remote service valve. The plug is on the side of the housing. Run a single line with quick coupler on the end from that port. If my vague description doesn't help, post back and I'll try to send you a picture. With the line from that port connected to your single acting cylinder, you can raise/lower the cylinder by using the POSITION CONTROL lever on the 3-point control quadrant. Tie draft arms off in the raised position or they'll go up and down with each cycling of the lever.

an't speak for 255, but my 275 has a screw on one of the two remote valves which when set properly, it converts that valve into operation for a single acting cylinder versus the usual double acting cyl. Real easy & simple....just need a screwdriver.

Couldn't find a screwdriver slot anywhere in the unit and not quite sure what you mean MFnut, I'm using the remote pump not the 3 point lift control to control my remote cylinder so the lift arms don't come into play when using the remotes on this tractor. Keith

Yours may not be like this??

Thanks guys so much for the help. Looked @ the pic JMOR & located the screw. I'll give it a shot on the haybine in the morning. I had a manual but loaned it out & for the life of me can't remember who I loaned it to. They say the memory is the 2nd thing to go & I can't remember what the first is (but I got a darned good idea LOL). I also found the pipe plug that you were talking about MF, but I think the screw will work. Thanks again both of you. Keith
