Ever heard of ALSTOM....

I work for a division of Alstom and until just recently have I realized how big of an outfit they are. Anyone here work for a division of Alstom or live near a plant? Silly question but just curious.

Alstom has a facility in Chattanooga, Tn. They bought the former Combustion Engineering mfg. facility. Alstom is a global company with many different divisions.

I am working presently on railcars that were repaired by Alstom about 15 years ago. I think that division was located in Montreal at the time. Some of their repair work was pretty shoddy, but it was probably deemed fit at the time.

Yes, did a job for them a few years ago. We had to go down to Hongaria, close to Boedapest, there is a nuclear power plant. Alstrom welded a lot of new condensors for the reactor, we had to check al the weldings for leaks.
The guys that welded it al came from France, they did a good job, we only found a few leaks. It was a very big project.

(quoted from post at 07:48:48 08/31/11) Absolutely! They're a French company that built the current record holder for rail-speed, a TGV that hit 357 mph! Not going to forget that name anytime soon.

Mike

If anyone could get something to go that fast in reverse, it'd be the french.......

If it's the same bunch, I believe it is but haven't looked it up, we contracted them to rebuild our 1,100 MW steam turbo-generators at work and they did a horrible job of it, long overdue on completion and required GE to come back in and right the wrongs. I was under the impression they were Swedes, but maybe they were French.
