You go on craigslist, Tractor for sale $800 with a phone number. You call only to find out it's a lawn mower!!I wish people would just say what it is a lawn mower.And before everyone chimes in with all the little implements that are available, it still is not a tractor!

That used to bug me when I was in service management.
People would call about a problem with their "truck". The way they talked, you'd get the impression it was a big grain truck or semi tractor, or something similar. Then when they showed up it was actually some little pipsqueak with about a 500 pound load rating.

When I used to haul combines on the harvest my escort would sometimes be a young man on the crew instead of the boss. I was approaching a bridge that was around a bend in a two lane road in Oklahoma when the young escort radioed to me that I would be meeting a truck close to the bridge. I laid on the brakes heavy and when I finally came to the bridge I met a mini-pickup of some sort. I don't remember the brand cause I was a little miffed at the misinformation. I do remember I had lost my momentum for making it up the hill after crossing the bridge. I told him that after this tell me if it's a pickup or a truck and he started arguing with me, telling me the mini-pickup is still a 'truck'. Jim

I agree. However there are both lawn mowers and lawn tractors.
The latter do or can have 3 pt. hitches and are often larger and MORE USABLE than the mower alone class.
The lawn tractor I have, as one example has a 3 cylinder diesel water cooled engine.
Along similar lines----do you have a pickup or a truck or a pickup truck? What do your city friends have and what do they call it?

I call my 3/4 ton 2002 Chevrolet Duramax diesel a "truck", but I use "pickup truck" occasionally to show that it is not a tractor-trailer.

The ones that get me going. They list car or truck for sale. Good condition. Then you get there and tires are bald,starter hangs sometimes needs minor work.

Mine pet peeve, adds on craigslist that say, I haven't tried to start it but I'm sure with a carb cleaning it will run just fine. Seems to me, if it would run, the jerk would try to start it before he tried to sell it.
