John,Pickin and Fiddling contest down here in Southern Indiana Friday night and Saturday at Labor Day Celebration Princeton,In.fairgrounds
held inside,low key with jamming.

Thanks, those low key laid back jams and small festivals are my favorites as I get to play more. We have to get ready for our big annual tractor show at Elnora so nut sure I will make it but Princetons relatively close for an RV trip

John, go to google video (utube) and type in "The Moron Brothers", and choose the video(picture) with the man taking a nap. You will enjoy the video.

Hey John!
Enjoyed that music but I have always been a little unsure of the difference between county (which I generally don't care for) and bluegrass (which will almost always put a smile on my face).

I cannot play a note of music but love to listen. Is bluegrass an American invention??

Id say Bluegrass is pure Americana, Bill Monroe claimed to be its father but he was a bragger n blowhard, I consider it Appalachian and was played in the hills long before Bill Monroe came along. Its sound is described as HIGH LONESOME

Im a beginner but if the song is straight bluegrass I can take a decent break on my banjo if asked as its mostly 3 and 4 chords and you can hear the changes n chords coming a mile away.

Bluegrass is performed mainly on acoustic instruments which contrasts with today's country music. 50 years ago country music was much different than today's country.
Google " bluegrass music" and it will take you to wickipedia which explains a bit of the origins of bluegrass.

If you ever run across the video, A Night in the Ozarks, by the Dillards, get it.

I wished i could get this old VHS converted to DVD.

I've got a little video of me and some basic clawhammer over on Kountry Life board. Title is speaking of music. Click on the pic and it will go to photobucket video.

Just sitting around practicing a little.
I'm no musician, but love the banjo.

Sony makes a machine that converts vhs to dvd real easy. My daughter has one and I converted a long vhs of the Red Power Round Up at Bonville Mo back in 94 I believe and it turned out very good.
