Early Winter ????

I have a gut feeling it's going to be an early winter, maybe I'm right. They started shelling corn on my inlaws farm Friday already. I took this picture today. Moisture a week ago was 28% don't know what it is now when they harvested. I just wanted to share this with you!

I said that I believed we would have a early winter a couple weeks ago due to the spider webs I was seeing which does not happen like this till later in the summer/fall but not this year you rn into them all over which in this area does not happen most years till Sept. or so

When I laid down in bed that dawned on me that I didn't say my location, this was taken in Highland, IL which is 30 miles East of St. Louis, Mo.

I hope not. Things are far from being ready here. This area had a late spring and I'll venture a guess that corn will be 3 to 4 weeks late and beans probably 2 to 3 weeks late on average.

Why not let it dry ten more points in the field before harvesting it? Was it going down or was it being harvested for feed or reseed to winter wheat or what? Just curious, not critical. Jim

Hello!
I have some good friends who farm near Mount Olive, IL. Corn must be coming along pretty good in Madison, Macoupin and Montgomery Counties. Here in Southeastern Minnesota, corn looks good. Some fields have started to dry-down. Some silage is being harvested.
