A friend recently over hauled a 7000 Allischalmers. It ran great for about 8 hours then started to smoke heavily and developed a miss but still makes power. The pump was rebuilt, injectors seem good, new fuel filters, checked the valves. We are stumped, any ideas?

The injectors "seemed" good??????? The injectors can only be tested with them removed and checked on an injection tester. A bad injector can very well cause the issue you have. It can also burn a hole in the top of a new piston real fast too. As in less than an hour of use.

Why spend the money to rebuild the engine and have the pump rebuilt then not have the injectors rebuilt too. It would be like doing a tune up and putting the old spark plugs back in.
