I posted this on JD site few days ago, still have not got the problem solved even after reading through the SM2050 JD power steering manual.

With the engine at fast idle I have no pressure at steering valve when the valve is adjusted correctly and steering is hard to turn. When I adjust it forward or back and start the engine there is some pressure[not what it is suppose to be} the wheels will turn either left or right.by them selfs as there is pressure there then. What am I over looking? All help and suggestions appreciated. Thanks

I guess I don't understand ? To check the pressure setting you will have to put a load on the system to see how high the pressure goes.

When you have the valve centered so it does not drift how good or bad does your steering work otherwise ?

With the valve centered, the stering is next to manual with very little presure showing on the 2000lb gauge.

yes but what is your pressure relief valve setting going up too when you have it turned all the way to one side and at the end so it can build pressure . This is adjustable and if you can't make pressure then the pump may be worn out.
When you had the pump apart did you mic the gears and housings ? I have seen many of these really worn out.

Make sure it doesn't have mixed up parts too. Someone could of stuck a pump from an early model 60 on there with a relief valve in it. Or an early valve housing with no relief for the system at all. I saw this once before !

I have added many washers in the relief valve to where I can just get the nut started and when I have wheels turned either direction with the valve centered and holding wheels against stop to build pressure I am reading 500 lbs.

Yes,someone else hase been in there before as I see a new center body on the pump,so who knows. Thanks
