Man, is the soil that dark or is that where a barn once stood? LOL That's some potent looking soil. Looks like you have some help coming along. Thanks for the pix and good luck.

I have 20 acres of field corn on muck. It had not been farmed for at least ten years. We cleaned all the ditches and planted. So far it is the looking goood. We did not put any fertilizer on. The buddy seat is mounted to the fender and it does have a seat belt. Here is a picture of the field corn taken on 8-21-2011.

Looks like you got good weed control for being without tillage that long. When did you finally get planted this year??
What part of W. MI are you in?? There is about 15 miles of black dirt like that up around St Johns in Central MI. I always wonder what it would be like to farm that whenever we drive through there.
