8n head removal

With Sparkplugs in, hit the starter and turn it over a time or two, (Plug wires off) Compression
will usually pop them loose...or loose enough to
slip in a pry bar>

I'm curious why you decieded to pull the head off the thing.
I really don't know what it is about those little flathead 4 cyls that people love to rip the heads off them so.
A fellow will buy himself a new N Ford and if it doesn't start he'll automatically rip the head off of it. Now of course he can't do any diagnostics on it like a compression test or do any kind of freeing up the rings with a treatment of Marvle Mystery oil.
No sir. Just rip the head offfen it and go from there.
Don't worry, I'm not making sport of you or second guessing you either.
But a new user with an N that's pulling the head?
Well, I've seen it before here about a thousand times is all. Ask them why and they mumble something about it seemed like the right thing to do.

You do make a good point -- Pulling the head is about the last place I'd want to start... On ANY tractor. :(

I heard an old mechanic talking about taking the heads off flathead Fords several years ago. He said the trick to getting them off is to pour a can of Coca Cola all over the studs and let it sit for a while and it should come right off. I don't know if it will work, but I'd say it's worth a try.
Good Luck and God Bless
