GROWING HOPS

I am growing hops here by my barn. Last year, being the first year for the plants,..they didn't give any hops, but this year, I have millions of hops! My question is, "How do I harvest them, and prepare them for keeping?" Now,..I am a homebrewer, and I do know how to keep them, but just don't know what to do from plant to fridge?

I've got a couple of vines by the shed. I always end up with wayyyy more than I can use. I dry mine in the garage and freeze them in mason jars. Works good and is easy. Gotta love the smell of them hops!

This area is known to be good for growing hops.
Last year we bought a pair of plants at a local plant sale. There were 2 plants in a pot, I assume both male and female We planted them near a fence and they grew up and along the fence for quite a ways. The vines are VERY spindly and now the leaves are drying up, we have kept it watered. Is this normal?
