OT / Raining in the Ozarks

We are on the second day of vacation at Lake of the Ozark's and it has rained both days. It is supposed to dry up later tonight and not rain the next couple of days.

I feel for the people here, they said it has not really rained since May. I will take my lumps for the good of the others that need the rain.

Lake of the Ozarks??? You do know I live just south of Camdenton 7 miles from the town square. I just dumped the rain gauge and it said a tad over an inch for the last 24 hours. Looked out my kitchen window and out about 400 yards I watch 6 deer this morning in the rain. Not really much here at the lake to do other then go to s few shows at night or go to the big septic system.

We were at Bridal cave today during the rain. We drove down there this afternoon, then boated back tonight when the rain stopped. We are boating to the castle tomorrow.

Look for a 20' blue sea-ray parked at the castle, that will be us.

I do not and will not boat any place in the lake or as I call it the septic tank. Yep the lake is so bad if you swim in it you better hope you do not ge sick. As for Bridal cave I could have gotten you in for free since I was part ot the group that found the lost lake and carried the scuba tanks over the froze falls that they F up when they cut back to the lost lake area. My dad was a guide there for years and I got married the first time in the cave but after hours since I was a member of the cave club back then. E-mail is open of you want to find me and get my home number. Oh byt he way Ha Ha tonka has at least 5 caves that few know about

That is cool to know you worked on that cave. The lake gets real shallow a couple of miles upstream from there. The lake here is much cleaner than anything in Iowa, so I guess it is perspective. I bet the lake was really clean many years ago.

The lake was clean say 50 years ago before they had all the houses right on it and the septic systems where not there yet. But then they started building close to the lake and that in turn made it so the septic systems field lines drained into the lake and that in turn has made the lake very very bad. I know of places on the lake where the field line goes right out into the lake an not uncommon to see paper and turds floating out. But yep if you get up into the Ha Ha Tonka spring area of the lake it is both clean and cold. Years ago you could swim right in the spring area but they stopped that due to people jumping off the cliff into the water. There are also many caves in Ha Ha Tonka park like river cave and counterfeit cave and island cave know them all and been in all of them

We went swimming at the spring, I heeded your advise about the lake, the spring looks like the cleanest spot, and yes people were jumping off the cliffs.

The kids are going to the water park tomorrow afternoon, so I am doing a solo run up the osage.

Upper end of any of the lake if for the most part clean. like the Niagra (sp) or the Gascanade. As a matter of fact if you tried real hard and went up the gascana then to the wet Glaize and then the dry you could get right to my place since I live just off the dry Gralze Spell checker does not seem to like some of those names LOL. Yep lived and worked in this area now since July of 1980
