I am going to start to build a paint booth in the shop. I would like some tips on exhaust fans, what type of filters, and anything eles I should know would be great. The paint booth is going to be 24 x 40. Thanx in advance....Lyle

I suggest a Google such as I just did,"construct a paint booth" .Lots of info and illustrations and parts lists and booths for sale. An answer to your inquiry.JH

Best advice I can give, just hanging plastic is NOT sufficient! Well I had a small squirrel cage fan and an open window for ventilation.
Do more than this......

That was back in April, I'm still cleaning up from it!

Some guys used to paint cars in the motorpool on the weekends and just set up a party tent around the vehicles. Worked pretty good. If you're gonna make a lining at painting, guess you'd want something a little more permanent....

I was walking down the street in Tiajuana a few years ago and thought I caught a familiar aroma.

A fellow was painting a Chevy Suburban on the sidewalk in front of a shop. It actually looked like he was doing a pretty good job.

Your lights and the garage opener are _not_ enclosed, and tho the risk of something going wrong with that are pretty small on any given day, that one in 1000 chance - when it happens, it happens ibn a big, spectacular way. For a paint booth, you need to have the electrical stuff out isolated from the inside of the booth where you are.

Again, I'm not condemning you and thanks for the pic, but that is kinda an example of how _not_ to do it, which is what I think you were saying as well.

Yup, there are numerous reasons I would not do it that way again, electrical safety is actually one I hadn't thought of but certainly a valid point.
When I do more body/paint work I will rent a spray booth. Having a permanent set up would be nice but I have no intention of doing that much.

(quoted from post at 16:18:07 08/16/11) had one just like it......my red riding mower is now a weird shade of blue and red... truck turned out good though

Funny, I have a few items that are a strange shade of green now.........I think you may have something there.

The big factor is with the electrical side. Have the lights outside of
the wall with a plexiglass cover. You can use a grain bin fan for air
flow, but you have to put the motor outside of the housing and just
run a belt to the fan. At least in northeast NE thats allowed by the
insurance man.
