Will be heading out for Springfield, Mo. from Sioux Falls, SD tomorrow. I figured on heading south to Sioux City and then take Hwy 20 over to Hwy 59 and then take that south till it runs into I-29 in Mo. Is Hwy 59 an ok road and is there any flooding of I-29 that far south yet? Thanks for any info.

Hwy 59 is a pretty good road. I was just on 71 this weekend and the I-29 detour starts there (St. Joe) and goes up to 34 west and back to I-29. It's a good road and traffic wasn't bad at all considering it's an alternate route for the interstate.

I will suggest using #71 instead of #59. Traffic on 59 is very heavy. The town of Shenandoah in particular is having major problems with fender benders and even injury accidents. Much less congestion on 71.

You can take I-29 south from Souix City to I-680 and then jump on I-80 at Neola, Ia. Then go to #71, mile marker 60, if you want, or #59, mile marker 40. Both good roads
