Tractor Tires

A friend asked me to find something for him. He is looking for 11.25x40 tires for a oliver 80. I didn't know they came in .25 measurements. Any idea where I might find some tires? I need 2 as the one he has are shot - hole in side.

Or is there another size rim that we can put on it? It has the cast hubs, so I am not thinking this is too likely.

Thanks.

The 40" part is the problem. The 11.25 is part of the orignal numbering system that started back in the 30's. It would have changed to something like 13 or 15 and would now be 14.9 or 16.9? or perhaps 18.?

They don't seem all that wide so they probably are a 12.4 or 13.6 max now.

I know the 40 in is the killer part. If you can't find that size what do you do? Put it up on blocks?? or scrap it?

A 9.5 tire would be way small, like putting the throwaway spare on your car. A 7:50 would have become a 8 that is by current sizes a 9.5 and the difference in cross section height from the 11:25 from the 7:50 is right at 4" per top and bottom of tire so that would be about 8" too small in diameter.

12.4 came from 11 that came from 9:00, 13.6 came from 12 that came from 10:00. The 8:00 is now the 11.2. So figure 10 to 13.6 that is about 3.5" so add the 3.5 to the 13.6 and you will come up with about 17.1 so the 16.9 would be the closest size by measurements. I know there will be a difference due to converting ways of measure but this is about as close as you cam come without a chart. And I just talked with the young man that works in the farm tire division of a local tire holesaler and he said he has that chart and would get me a copy.
