OT: Citadel

This morning I dropped off my oldest son at The Citadel for his first year of college. He wants to complete his 4 years there, then become a career officer in the USMC. He's never had any interest in old tractors, but becoming a Marine is just as good. It's a tough school and he will be starting Hell Week. No contact with anyone outside the school for a week, and it will be greuling all year. Best wishes to all of you who are taking your kids to college. It ranks high as one of life's emotional experiences.

My son also had NO interest in the farm or tractors(old or new)-he likes fast Italian sports cars.He joined the navy at 17,speacializing in nuclear engineering and is in the officer program.he loves the navy and they like him.I was/am disapointed that he didnt follow me,but he made a better choice.Yes,I am a proud papa!

Best of Luck to your son. Been through it myself at another military college in the late 60's - early 70's.

Always wanted to be an Armor Officer. Proudest moment of my life was getting those gold bars.

Then 'rode with the 1st Cav'.. Maybe that's why I like old tractors..
