I was just looking at that nice seedbed that Larry prepared and I was thinking ....I'm rebuilding an SA , and I also have heard that the old tractors go too fast to use a tiller with .Other than a Sherman 2 speed trans , is there a way to use a modern tiller on an old SA ? How about dragging a subsoiler shank as a brake ? hahaha

Ground speed is the issue.

Tillers are not real good for the soil. They both make hard pan and kill the worms your garden needs (gleaned from studies and info on gardeing pages). Sense I went to a mowboard plow, disk and digger behind my 8N my garden yealds have gone way up. Besides I find "working" the soil much more satisfying than tilling.

We have about 3 acres of veggies.

Remember, be a gentalman farmer.......never plant more of a garden than the wife and kids can weed!!!!
