grey hiefer, says weighed 845, surprising she was that light. $.90/#. The red older heifers avg'd 1148, got $.76/#. Kinda dissapointed. Guess I should have poured the grain to them and sold the beef. First time ever for me selling at a sales barn. Ussually sell as hanging or live breeding stock off the farm.

did you read the thread a few days ago? you are compeating against sale barns in places that are in near dust bowls. You are luck to get those rates. Early spring was always to best prices I ran into. Everyone wants to sell in November, so calcuate your feed around that one....

Prices have dropped some then. I sold three cull cows in Long Prarie in June and got .75/lb for them. They weighed 1200-1400lbs.

What did you tell them that those older heifers were? I'd have definately sold them as fats. I took some two weeks ago,fat heifers, weighed 1210 and 1220,brought $1.05 and 1.07.

you need to realize that sale barns that normally run about 800 head are now running 3000 to 4000 down here in texas

How old where the bigger heifers??? The ones that weight 1148 should have done better. If they where not too old and rangy.
