Keeping livestock off grass after spraying?

Had the pasture sprayed yesterday around 4:00pm with 2-4D and Banvil for weeds. Never really had weeds in it, but I guess it has been so dry they are getting a foothold. My question is how long before I can turn the livestock back out? They are shut in the lot at this time. I am thinking one day, but just wondered if anyone knew for sure. Thanks a lot - Bob

Banvel has no grazing restrctions but you cannot butcher the animal for 30 days.

The label says not to graze 24D Ammie for two weeks after spraying.

Found this too. Best to check with whoever applied it for you I would think.

I agree, but the guy who sprayed it, and he does have a liscence, is also a fireman and I can't reach him for 2 days. He thought about a day, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the info. Bob

I've looked at 2,4-D labels in the past and it seems like every supplier has a different grazing restriction. Some have none, some 24 hrs, some 7 days. Really do need to find out what the labels said on what the applicator used. Next year look into Grazone P&D, I think it has no grazing restriction.

I have some cheap 24D Amine here I bought at tsc. no grazing restrictions on it.

an't reach him for 2 days, not a problem, since the forage restriction is 7 days. So after you ask him to see the labels, to be certain, you still have 5 more days to wait.

You personally need to see labels from containers of what ever exactly was applied. Even throughout this thread, posters are not always referring to the exact same chemical & it is all hearsay, even from me......get the label.

I agree with you, it will depend on the exact product, also seems to be about a week most often for similar sprays as I recall.

Restrictions for milk are typicallymuch more severe.

There may be restrictions for how long be4 selling for meat, as someone else mentoned.

Just a note to this. I texted the guy thinking he just might see it, (again he is a fireman), and he did text back he would check. He texted back in a few minutes that it was 7 days. Thanks for the replies. Bob
