thanks for sharing the pics mark. not a bad looking machine for its age. my wifes step father is from boonville and she has relatives from up that way on potato hill to be exact, i love it up that way nice country. kyfarm the tank is if i'm not mistaken for a preservative for the haylage and/or silage, probably not really used down your way very much.

It is more than likely a water tank. When you are chopping alfalfa as it drys there is one stage that it gets gummy and will not blow very well. Just a little water in the blower and it slicks it right up. I usually have a water hose on the blower when we blow the up right silos full.

'll jump in and say that I bet the tank is for urea to boost protein in the silage. Preservative would interfere with the fermentation and water would make grass stick to the chute.

It would more likely be an innoculant applicator... either that or water. I've seen innoculant applied but never water. Doesn't seem to be a need for it here or mabey we just never chop that dry...

its a preservitive tank. i just drained it the other day somebody steped on the hose or something broke it and it started leaking. i havent used it in about 2yrs. its gettting expensive. but ya it helps keep the corn and silage preserved longer.
