OK, Last time folks..... Trying to order one from Northern tool because they are about 1/6th the price here.... They won't ship because of the length.

Are the guts of these things rigid or flexible?? I mean, could I have one sent to my buddy and he send it all but the galvanized pipe that I would buy here?

Thanks, Dave

the suker rod in the middle is just as long and rigid , the valve is in the bottom under ground therefore making it frost free,

when you get done can i come over and BORROW your digger, i need to replace a couple?

Do they sell them at home depot or harbor freight????? My buddy could look at one and see if he could ship it to me......

Ell, they sell them everywhere. none of The ones I have seen would bend in zee middle, the out side or the inside. don,t they have em over there?

You may recall my response last time- I had installed the hydrant inside an old milkhouse- when I needed to replace the plunger at the bottom, I couldn't get the rod out without bending it over. I straightened, cut, threaded and spliced it to get it back in.
So you've got both the standpipe AND control rod as length issues.

(quoted from post at 15:47:41 08/03/11) yeah, but after shipping are you going to save any thing?

$200 here................. But worth it when it comes to begging someone to send it......... Simple is one thing but when you have friends like mine, thinking comes (costs) extra

Dave, I would bet money that it would be pretty straightforward to cut the galvanized, thread for a coupler and fabricate a splice for the rod inside.

Don't really know you but would be happy to do the work.

I am located in upstate NY.

Brad

You can buy freeze proof hydrants from Tractor supply $60.00 for 6 ' & $45.00 for a 4' they also have a 5' one.

gonna have my buddy look and measure to see if one meets the size limits for shipping (108 inches lengthxgirth) but he ain't a fabricater.

Dave

if it's not under 108 " then send the long pec. in one box and the head in nother box, whole dang thing only weighs round 20# or less.

we sell simmons for 52.00--most from sites like northern are junk --we install water line and simmons is all we will use ----you can usually get them anywhere for under 60

dave i don't understand, what do the german's use to get water in the yard? so the only frost free hydrants you can find are $200.us,?

140 euro.......Haven't even seen one in use just in catalogs

Hey Dave, I checked with TSC for a 4' Frost Hydrant (which is actually 6' long as you probably know) and they wanted $45.00 plus tax and a galv. coupler at about $4.00. As for the center rod I am sure I can find somthing in the parts bin to work depending on what it is made of.

Shipping will depend on where in New York the address is located.

I took the liberty of checking on a gennewyne USA hydrant from the plumbing supply and it can be had for $95.00.

My e-mail is open.

Thanks!

Let me check with the post office... If that thing is 6ft long (72 inches), it gives 36 inches to play with on the distance around the biggest point.....

Should work as/is..... Can you send me your zipcode and what you think it weighs (I figure about 20 pounds)?

Would you buy the one from TSC to use yourself?

Hey Dave.

Questions...I am going to assume you are referring to the 108" ups tape for packages..If so the tape has to go around the longest part of the pasckage and have the ends touch. 6' will definately not go.

Twenty pounds sounds about right.

Honestly I pretty much despise plumbing of any sort and having to redo work because of defective castings and parts (happened twice) has pretty much put me off from Chinese plumbing parts.
That being said I think I would test the gadget before I sent it off to be shipped overseas.

Actually I am going to be putting 2 hydrants in the new orchard and I probably will shell the bucks out for the domestic fittings.

Can't use UPS... Have to use the post office and it is 108" length + girth....

let me do some checking..... Safe to assume the ones from TSC and northern tool for around 50 bucks are china made?

I would be surprised if either wasn't Chinese.

You may be correct about the measurement. Been a while since I did a lot of shippin'.
