tongue-and-groove barn siding

I have made small repairs to my barn in the past, and I've noticed that after a few feet, the siding is starting to lean. I attributed this to the fact that I started next to a weather beaten piece in the middle of the wall, and the edge may not have been square. Now I am replacing the entire end of the barn, and I need some help as to a starting point. I thought about a plumb-bob, but what if the frame of the barn isn't 100% square? Thanks, Fritz

Are your studs straight up and down or are they leaning? If they are leaning you should get them straight and nail some planks on the inside walls to hold them straight. Otherwise you will be nailing your siding on crooked.

Do whatever you have to do to get the framework square to start with. This may only mean using some fill in boards to accomplish this. You probably aren't going to change the "true" shape of the end of the barn, but you can add some fillers here and there to get it square enough for your siding to look good. Since this is your second attempt at this, why not do it right?
