I am trying to clean up our place. I have a metal bin for all the iron laying around. My brother has a 350 chevy truck engine probably late 70's. setting on the ground. I wanted to put it in the bin. He had a fit, said it was a rebuildable engine eventhough water had got in and rotted a hole in the pan. He told me it has as steel crank, they hard to come by. In your opinion is there really any value other than scrap for this motor? He doesn't even have a chevy truck. Every thing of his I want to get rid of he has an excuse on why to keep it. Three or four Dodge 318 motors same thing. Having a hard time dealing with him. Stan

If he wants to keep it so bad, have him bring it over to his house. I bet it wouldn't be so valuable that long if it was in his yard.

While not rare, late 60"s/early 70"s "seasoned" S/B chevys are getting harder to come by, at least around here (NE Wisconsin). The dirt track guys around here love them, even hoard them. If it"s a truck motor it may have a 4-bolt main and the steel crank hold value too. I"ve got two 4-bolts stashed and they will not be scrapped out, not in my lifetime.

Too bad your brother is using you for a storage facility. I agree he should pick up the motor if it is so valuable to him

just do like My dad did to Me when I was 16 and had HIS shed full of car parts. came home from school one day and the shed's all clean out, he never said a word, found the parts bout 3 days later in the back 40. yep My dad was a smart man, he only had to do it 1 time lol. used to have a 8-n but I sold it.

Put it on craigs list You will find out how special it is. split the money Send your Brother a copy of the listing see if he jumps

Market is out there big time for those around here for Mud Boggers. If you post in Craigslist and seems a good price maybe your Brother will try to by for an extra. LOL

Those MoPars good for older Chrysler enthusiasts trying to restore one.

Even though it is a good engine to keep, how good can it be after being full of water and maybe froze and cracked the block.Crank would be rusted bad.

Is the farm yours or do both of you own it??? If it is yours sort his stuff into a pile and tell him he has so many days to come and get it. IF you both own it then he has just the same rights as you do.

As for the value the motors will bring much more than scrap value. It just amazes me the stuff people sell for scrap that is worth many times more.

it's more than likey junk , sitting with water in it kills them . Dad is the same way ,,can't part with a lb of metal, even though can 't walk around his shop . sitting on couple thousand worth of scrap ,,that he thinks is a couple million ,lol. Rebuildable 4 bolt chevy is going for $100 to $350 . If it is a 4 bolt, if it is not cracked . Otherwise clean of Block ID numbers and look up what it came out of . If something rare it may be worth something to guy doing restoration .
