MF-135 power problems

I need some fresh ideas. MF-135 idles fine and runs smooth at 1600 RPM in the shop. When under load in the field it starts pinging and sputtering, loses power, and will hardly run. I've checked everything I can think of.

Have you verified the static and advanced timing?

Have you also verified proper fuel flow into the float bowl?

Yes. We have checked the timing. I'm not sure about how to check fuel flow. We have takeen the carburator off and cleaned out. The float and valve seem to operate OK

Have you verified that the centrifugal spark advance mechanism is functioning properly and not sticking?

You should have a steady stream of fuel from the fuel line (disconnected) at the carb. If not check all screens and filters.

Is the anti dieseling solenoid in place and functioning? Many have been disabled and not all have been effectively disabled.

I have the same tractor and engine. You might have to re-adjust the governor linkage. If yours has a gas pedal, it may need adjustment at that end, which is easier too. Ask this on the Massey forum above, there are a couple 135 experts on there that may not read this form.

If it is not "Timing", it may very well be the Cooling System...
Are you sure the water temp is OK and that coolant actually IS flowing..?
Have you checked the Timing while it is running at Rated RPM..?

Ron..
