JD 329 combine vs 4030

Is the 329 the same hp. as the 329 in a 4030? Will the combine engine work in the 4030? I am looking at a used moter out of a 6600 for parts.

Okay, I could be having a senior moment, but didn"t the 6600 have the 404 engine? My 4400 had a 329, and someone once told me that the manifold and oil pan were different but could be swapped. I would think the bell housing would be different too.

I'm fairly sure a combine engine has more flywheel hp than a 4030 but should work with some minor alterations if it has dowel pin and bolts at the frt of engine for hyd pump bracket.

The late 6600's had 404's, the older ones had the 329 or 359. I think the either engine could be ordered on the new ones. Our 6600's are older and have the 329 or 359, I would have to look at the tags. I know a neighbor put a 329 out of a combine in his 4030, but I don't know what all he had to swictch.

the 329 out of combine will fit but you have to change a few parts.Alternator bracket,water pump, oil pan, exhaust manifold. probably something I am forgeting but it will be easy if you have both engines side by side.
