Well, looks like you folks in S. Tx. are going to benefit from TS Don, but we won"t.

That rotten high pressure ridge that has kept the temps 100+ for 27 consecutive days (34 days so far) just won"t move over enough for some of that rain to make it up to our place. Forecast for next week is for 105+ all week.

Well, at least some of us will get a break.

It's more aggravating when there's rain nearby but not at your place than it is when there's no rain at all ain't it?

We had that a few years back. Draught in a small area, cigar shaped along the I94 corridor in MN. Just 12 miles north and south of us had rain but not us.

Really hope you guys get some well needed rain!

Rick

Yep, looks like we are going to get wet now. Some of the outer bands are showing up on the local radar already, and it's really cloudy which is quite unusual lately.
But hang in there, have you seen the latest picture? How about that big old orange circle down there at the bottom of the picture???

Problem is we have this ridge of high pressure that just won't move away. As long as that's around, no chance for rain.

I remember as a kid, we had a 5 gallon bucket sitting in the fence line between us and neighbor, Rain came up and his side of the bucket was running over and our side was bone dry.

Wednesday I drove through a nice little wash in Corsicana. Missed my place by about 2 miles. :(

It sure smelled good though!

I remember a year like that. We were on the receiving end that year. As near perfect as I'd ever seen. An inch or rain every 9 days like clock work. You could write it on the calendar before it happened. It ended at about the south county line. The farm show host on the local AM radio station in the town just south of the county line was the morning DJ and farmed himself in the afternoons. It was raining cats and dogs up here one morning and you could just hear the frustration in his voice when the news guy told him that. His voice went up about 3 octaves and he said "they always get rain up there!". I sympathized with him. We're on the other end of it more often than not.

i'm about halfway 'tween Victoria and Bryan...cloud bands goin over and i think i felt 2 drops of rain or a leakin bird...not sure which...5 bales left...either it rains or cows outta here...cant gamble anymore...will be first time my family hasnt had cattle in Texas since early 1800's.

Nancy, You are right, 40 mi N. of Austin, 96* is the projected high fore today. 100+ for the foreseeable future. Bulk of the rain will be S.A. south. San Antonio and the Valley are Will be the recipients this Go-around. Perhaps the Gulf Coast region will make hay and there will be some availability in the near future.

We had thunder & lightening the other day and got about two drops from it. It rained almost an inch a few miles north in Conroe. We are about 25 inches behind right here. A friend of mine has two stock tanks that are completely dry. He does have well water available though, but almost no hay.
