I have been looking at this 8N for a little while and wondered what you guys think. The tractor has good paint and everything works the guy says. The tractor looks really clean in the pictures so I was wondering what these are going for??? Asking is $2400

Oh and everything is original.

Thanks,

M

Our civic club bought one two years ago for $2600 that looks and runs great. Could be a show tractor but we use it to keep our ballfields up. I saw one that looked good (paint/tires) sell at auction for $1800. Look up 8n's on this site in photo ads to compare.

That's quite high for an unrestored 8N in my area.

For a bit more you can get an 860 or 861 with live hydraulics and PTO and nearly twenty more HP.

With the reasonable prices for some of the Kubota and Kioti tractors it seems that the 8-n's are overpriced. I looked for a long time for one but finally bought a new Kioti. There is nothing that an 8-N is better for than the new tractor. Also the Kioti is a pretty good light loader tractor and the N is a very poor loader tractor. I like to drive a good 8-N because it brings back memories. Remember a good 8-N may be older than the driver

You can buy good originals for 1500 to 1800 in ohio.I've seen some common ones for 800 to 1000.They dropped in value the last couple years.
I've seen some with new paint and tires bring in the 2300 range.

That is high for around here, North east Iowa. You can get good 600-800 series for that money here. You get live power and much better gearing. Those 8N had a reverse that was just about useless, way too fast. Brakes where marginal when new.

Intended use(s) for the N series Ford and your tractor experience?
As previously stated. For that kind of money and the state of the economy. You will be happier with something having live pto, live hydraulics, a real drawbar, slower 1st gear, power steering and working brakes.

Henry Ford built the Ford 8N like he did the model T auto, lots of them so there are lots of them still around. $2400.00 seems to me like twice what one should sell for but in reality value is only what a seller can convince a buyer to pay him for what he has for sale.IMO I would do a lot of looking before I would over pay for a tractor which is a common item on the old tractor list.

Value is in the eye of the buyer - if an 8n is what you were on growing up, or that is what you want to show, or it's serial number has significance, $2400 is a drop in the bucket. If you want to use it then I think you have a lot better choices in that price range.

Thats not bad...paid around that..mine runs like a swiss watch...foot boards are hardly worn..oil pressure will go down a little after 3 or 4 hours mowing in 100 + degree heat..practically new tires..couple new bushings took most of the play out of the front steering..
