Anybody ever pulled a Super W6 McCormick?

I am thinking about taking my Super W6 McCormick to a tractor pull this weekend and I was wondering if enyone has ever pulled one and how they do compared to row crop tractors their size?

i took mine to a pull where the track was wet and sticky-- i lowered the tire pressure to 12 lbs. -- to low for the track-- should have had 20-- ran out of power--lesson learned--i have a 450 head on it so it runs real nice --new tires realy dug into the track--so look at the track-- dry track needs a max on the hitch height too with lower tire pressure -- just my thoughts--good luck my friend-- Roy

yes they are competative with the super M's , but a lot depends on tires as mentioned and the operator. as i say you can use the same tractor and two diff. operators will have a diff. pull result.the super M's seem to do a bit better though due to the taller tires.

i was going to pull with my W-6 at the fair next week-end. just got a job that will include working sat for the next few weeks. bummer, i wanted to try my new [to me] tractor....not a super , just a reg W-6

Around here I have never really seen a Super W6 do much against the Super M or even a M. Seem to be a bit low and short, maybe the lower tires makes the difference.
Now if a SW6 is fixed up a bit with a different head then I could see it being right there with the M type tractors. Not really comparing Apples to Apples then though.

Have pulled my W6 and my SW6 in Florida, both have done well, the W6 pulled last spring with the front wheels just barely off the ground for the last 50 ft.

A '6' is simply a 'wheatland' M.Tires (as in all tractors)hake a huge difference.
Are they Loaded or empty;smooth or have good tread;tractor tread or turf style? My old greasy, rusty everyday user SuperM(with less than 50%tread tires filled with fluid)always out pulls the shiney ones with new tires(dry).A O4 in our club with almost new(dry)'turf tires'will not hardly pull any thing-it spins out

DeltaRed your right there, paint don't make them pull any better. I like it when a plain old looking farm tractor does a good pull over them great painted tractors. Our old M just has a spray can paint job, looks good but not like the restored tractors.
Funny you mentioned the O4, My dad who is in his 80's said they were about the most useless tractor Farmall ever made for field work, a bit of mud and they would be done, too low, short with too much weight up front. Don't want to offend any W4 owners but this came from a guy who seen and drove all kinds of tractors from time they were new working on different farms.
