Heavy rain in Iowa

Dubuque Iowa area, saw over 10" of rain Wednesday night! One small town, 20 miles west, recorded 13"!!!

I just heard on the noon news that the Ionia Free Fair,Michigan's largest fair is shutting down. It's suppused to run through Sunday, but heavy rains are causing the Grand River to rise. Bank full is 13 feet and the river is predicted to crest at over 18 feet Saturday, and that's just with the rain we've had. They're predicting more tonight. They said campers and some vendors are packing up and leaving now. The meat animal sale will still be going on at 4pm,but shuttles will bring folks in from parking lots around town. Nobody can remember the fair ever having to be shut down early before, but the grounds did flood a couple of years ago during a big country music festival. A WHOLE bunch of cars were submerged for a few weeks from that one,so I guess they aren't taking any chances this time. They're saying there was as much as 8 inches up streem last night. We had 3 up here to the north of it.
NTPA Tractor Pulls were supposed to be Friday and Saturday, but with it being the same weekend as Fort Recovery,it's turned in to not much more than an exibition pull anyway,so it's no great loss. Guess all the pullers can go to Fort Recovery to a real pull now.

I was there last night for church- new chapel- and it did have sirens/ tornado warning. Did get a bit wet, was low vision drive at 10:00pm. RN

WOW! I thought I heard something about that on the news but I thought the 13" came over a period of days. My sis lives in the Quad Cities. I'll have to give her a call. Jim

Hang on to your rowboat, RR - supposed to rain again tonite! I've seen the Ionia Fairgrounds flooded clear up to the High garage doors, and it ain't pretty! We got 1.75" last nite, like you said, areas upstream from Ionia got up to 8".

I had 3 in my guage. A mile east of me,a guy right in town said he had 3.7,but I think he has a funnel on his guage. He always seems to have more than I do. I might have to put the duals on to bale the hay that the weather guessers had me believing I'd be able to bale yesterday when I cut it Monday.

I had 4 inches in the guage over here by Ashley and it's raining again very hard tonight. I wanted to go the the Ionia fair tonight too. Not going to happen. Don't need another B93 birthday bash recreation!
