Hey,
How would you compare the Big Red to an equal (250cc 2wd) quad?
Are they chain or shaft drive? Not very common over here but I just found 3 of them in like new shape (all 1985's).
If you had a choice and money wasn't an issue, would you have the big red or a quad?

I didn't have a Honda 3 wheeler but had a Yamaha 250DX three wheeler which is comparable. I have also had two Polaris Sportman ATV's, a 450cc and a 700cc, both 4x4. I was a kid when I had the Yamaha and it was a blast. Lots of fun, but not a "work horse" if that is your intention. I would any day pick a 4x4 ATV over the three wheeler for chores, hauling firewood, plowing snow, hauling a small trailer, etc.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!! That's what I thought.......... I have a 2wd quad that does all I want/need guess the guy can keep his 3 wheelers........... Tempting tho, all three look new and he wants 5k for the lot.

I think I would take the stability of the 4 wheeler over the three. I take it that you may sometimes need a cart behind and hilly sideways terrain like fixin fences may be safer on the 4.

Don't know what a Quad is. we have a Big Red it is a work horse and gutsey. During the irrigation season it works every day pulling out a quarter of a mile of plastic pipe and moving the pulling unit plus the usual checking things on the farm. It is a chain drive. I know people complain about them being unsafe. They are only as unsafe as the idiot driving them is. gitrib

You rarely see a 3 wheeler here in the states anymore. They quit selling them and as they became older and wore out they sorta disappeared.

Too dangerous. 4 wheelers replaced them.

I have a Honda Rancher that I really like.

The 3wheeler is more manuverable then the 4 wheeler.power wise,I dont know.Never owned a 4wheeler.The tipping issue-as stated it is the idiot driveing, never had a problem, dont ever remember dumping it.

They were around and got their bad name when I was a kid....... Just ran across the three 2 days ago. after checking, the germans won't license them for road travel (which I need). Guess I'll stick with my china quad (rebadged yamaha beartracker)....

Like I've said on here before. If you think a 3-wheeler is unsafe, you should try a 2-wheeler (motorcycle) Every time you stop they tip over, unless you put your feet down.

If 3 wheelers are so dangerous, why are there so many 3 wheel motorcycles on the highways?

Don't want to start anything, but I have owned 2 3 and 4 wheelers and have never shed a drop of blood because of any of them. Been riding them since 1974. Getting hurt is all because of the idiot behind the handlebars.

I got one of each: Big Red 250 and a Foreman 500. Like both but around here you learn to go up and down these mountians instead of around them. Either one will turn over. DH
